Tonight's Non-Starbucks Study...
Read: Judges 2:7-23 (Introduction to the Judges)
- Verses 7-10 deliver a scary thought! What does it drive home to our generation?
- Verses 11-19 reveals how dumb people are! ;) What can we learn from their mistakes?
- What can we learn from verse 22?
Now, let's discuss these and/or any other aspects of these passages...

The U.S. Election: How should we feel?
Tomorrow we will witness a historic presidential election south of the border. The United States of America will elect either their first biracial (black/white) President, or their first female Vice-President. As people pick sides and buy into the campaign of either McCain or Obama, it is important that we keep a level head and avoid being pulled into the undignified, emotional frenzy of obsessively exalting one candidate and his campaign, and/or pulling down the other. I'm not saying that we should not have strong feelings about any issues, in fact, there are some issues at stake that I feel strongly about. However, we should view each issue individually, based on conviction and good sense, and not on parties, personalities, media, and the like. (And, as far as our conviction goes, as Christians, that should be derived from the ultimate authority on good and evil - the Bible.) Nor am I saying that we should not be attracted to, or prefer, a particular candidate over another. However, our preference should not be based on personal chemistry, rather it should be based on principles. And, if we are objective, it is not likely that any one candidate would adequately line up with all of our convictions and good sense. Thus, we must figure out what principles are most important to us as Christians (i.e. what is most important to God). From there, we must recognize the good and bad in each of the campaigns and place our preference on the candidate that comes closest to representing that which is most fundamentally important to us. Having established that preference, we must maintain a christian dignity and respect in our conversation about all candidates involved, which includes abstaining from personal attacks. Lastly, remember that, in the greater reality, we are citizens of Heaven and Jesus Christ is our Commander in Chief, thus, our main concern should be with the kingdom of Heaven, not earthly kingdoms.

From way back- Carriers of hope
There is an epidemic of sin...
There is no escaping it...Everyone is a carrier.
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
In fact, everyone was born with it.
Ps 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.
It's killing humanity worldwide.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death...
BUT there is a COUNTER-EPIDEMIC that is STRONGER than the epidemic!
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
YOU ARE A CARRIER OF THE ONLY HOPE OF THE WORLD!!!
1 Col 1:27 ...Christ in you, the hope of glory.
This epidemic of hope is contagious upon contact!
So how do we spread it? TOUCH PEOPLE!!!!!!!
Mark 16:14-16 15 And [Jesus] said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved..."
YOU ARE A PREACHER SIMPLY BY TOUCHING PEOPLE WITH YOUR LIFE AND LETTING PEOPLE SEE JESUS IN YOU!
WE ARE CARRIERS OF HOPE!

Sinai
DON'T BE WIMPS... Moses wouldn't have put up with complaints about the weather when he took his youth group to Sinai! Ya, it's gonna be cold and rainy, but it's gonna be worth it... just ask Moses! You would be smart to bring lots of warm clothes and rain gear and bedding though... because although the LORD will be descending, it may not be in physical fire... but then again, it may.

Stolen without permission from Pastor Young's Blog
by my man Pastor Young
The only way I know to describe it is "mind boggling"! PEAK was off the hook. If you weren't there you missed one of the most incredible God encounters that I have ever experienced. Like the song writer Tony Roberts penned "I just can't find the words". Something happened on Wednesday night that I will never forget. Pastor Nathan Morton stepped to the pulpit to open the convention with an announcement and as he did the young people began to worship. Without any prompting they continued and became more animated. The power of God began to move into the building in wave after wave as the young people gave themselves to the presence of God. 45 minutes later, without one note being sung or one chord struck they were still lost in praise to God. Pastor Morton turned the service straight to the evening evangelist (Rev Cody Marks who preached us into the presence of God) and PEAK was off and running. The day sessions were literally life changing as Rev Jason Calhoun got right to where we live. By Friday evening close to 2000 people filled the convention center and boy did we have a revival. It was 3 days where God showed up and showed off. I am still living in the overflow of what took place in Tulsa. I can't wait till next year.
To all of you Pastor's that gave their support financially as well as sending your young people I would like to express my thanks.
And to all of the youth council of the WPF, you guys did a great job. Thanks a million.
To the young people that came and pushed the devil around for a little while...I LOVE YOU!
