OK broken down more. I would say ( if we're going to be technical): prayer is the attempt to communicate with some-thing.
-People pray to Buddha but can't really connect or communicate because to him because Buddha is dead. All that's really left of him are statues and perhaps some bones somewhere. -Superstitious people may pray to a human, animal or the moon... but that to is useless besause they can see this object it still has no real power. -Jesus on the other hand has all power and this is constantly being proved to us over and over again. He is living, so when you pray to him it is never useless.
Is Buddha there something? could just be the opposite they are looking for so they can feel at peace with knowing they have found the something that calms their consciences...
